The Magnificent Museum

Are you someone who likes insects, space, or dinosaurs? Possibly all 3? If you do, then I know the place for you. It’s fun and educational, and it has something for everyone. It’s the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and I think that we should go here on a field trip, and here’s why.

This museum has a lot of variety. There’s a Butterfly Center that is home to many kinds of plants and insects. The butterflies stay in the Rainforest Conservatory, which is 3 stories high and is home to a 50 foot waterfall! Next, there is a Planetarium where you can learn about space and things from the past, like dinosaurs! Finally, there is a Giant Screen Theatre that plays 3D movies! While looking on the museum’s website, I watched a trailer of a movie titled “Tiny Giants 3D”. It showed a mouse in the desert and a chipmunk in a forest. Both of them were trying to do the same thing: survive. It looked really interesting, and I think we should see it if we go on a field trip here.

Although the things at the Houston Museum of Natural Science are fun, but they’re also educational. Of course the Butterfly Center is fun, because you get to watch butterflies and look at exotic plants and animals, but you learn about them in The Brown Hall of Entomology. There are many different insects to research, like the Whipscorpion, the Atlas Beetle, and many different butterflies. You learn about these insects on touchpads found throughout The Brown Hall of Entomology. Next, in the Planetarium, you can watch movies about space and dinosaurs, and while entertaining, they’re educational too. Now, in the theatre there are movies about animals ,and while entertaining, they also teach you a lot of different things about animals. Also, if we were studying animals in school, we could go to the theatre or the Butterfly Center.

Remember, The Houston Museum of Natural Science has something for everyone. It’s fun and educational. These are just two small reasons why we should go to The Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Super Snowman Craziness

When it was snowing,

I had a great time.

Nathan came home with me

to come spend the night.

I put on my jacket, hats, socks and shoes,

and went outside, knowing exactly what I’d do.

Nathan and I tried to build a snowman,

but we completely failed.

So we went inside to play the Wii U.

Later, we went back outside and built a snowman!

But it fell over again.

Nathan gave up, but I was determined.

After a while, I actually did it!

I gave him my hat,

and I got him rocks for eyes.

I went inside to tell my mom the news,

and she took a picture of it!

I then named him Timmy.

Even though he has melted away,
his spirit will always stay in his hat.

God’s Gift

Nathan and I have been friends for a long time. After I got to know him better, I learned that he got bullied a lot, and that he had no parents. That was the day I stood up for him, the day he inspired me, and the day he became my best friend. There are two reasons I admire Nathan. Those reasons are he is encouraging, and I trust him.

I am very encouraged by Nathan. As a kid who has a loving mother and father, I don’t know what I would do without them. Nathan, on the other hand, has no parents, but he still does great things. Next, he is a very respectful person. When my mom asks him and/or I to do something, he always does it. Most importantly, he is kind to everyone. Nathan has never hurt my feelings. If he says something that he thinks will hurt my feelings, he asks me if I want him to tell me.

One of the best things about Nathan is that I trust him. I have known Nathan for many years, and I haven’t seen him lie once. Every time I lie to my parents, Nathan tells them the truth and I’m thankful that he does that. At the same time, he always goes through with his promises. Most importantly, Nathan and I have a strong relationship. Once we did a trust fall. I felt so scared when I fell back. Shortly after, I felt Nathan catch me. “I know I can trust him now” I said to myself.

Luckily, I don’t see Nathan getting bullied anymore. Obviously, he still has no parents, but our house is basically a second home for him. Nathan, for this day and beyond, will always encourage me and be someone I trust.

Super Sky-lift Fun!

It was another beautiful morning on our 1 week family reunion in Tennessee. All of my family jumped into our cars, and started to drive to Gatlinburg. We all knew where we were going, but not what we where doing. “This is going to be awesome!” I told myself.

When we arrived we paid to park, then walked to the town. We walked around to go to one of the many, many shops there and buy some things, and after that we started to eat. While we were eating my cousin, Amelia asked “Mom, can we ride the sky-lift?”

My family got to the sky-lift before my brother Zach, my cousin Jimmy, my mom and I got there. The people who worked there helped us get on and we rode. At first I was a little scared because I thought the sky-lift would break. I soon calmed down, and started to talk to my mom, who was sitting by me in this orange, floating chair. We continued to chat, until my brother did something the workers said NOT to do. “I’m going to shake the chair!” my brother joked. “Zachary NO!” Jimmy exclaimed who was sitting right beside him. My mom and I laughed while they joked around, then started to look at the amazing view.

We arrived at the peak of the sky-lift and saw the rest of our family waiting for us. When we got off the sky-lift, I saw a telescope that costed 25 cents to use. My aunt gave me a quarter and I looked through the telescope. After Colin and Amelia (two of my cousins) looked through, we rode the sky-lift again.

After we rode I couldn’t help but feel a little depressed because none of my family lives near me, and our family reunion was almost over. Then we jumped back into our cars, and started to drive back to the resort. “That was so awesome!” I told myself. Your family is the most important thing in your life, but they won’t be around forever, so use your time wisely.

Looking at 2013…

2013 was a great year for me. I had lots of fun and did wonderful things. I got my love of pokemon back. Pokemon is a game lots of my friends played, which led me to lots of fun, memorable things. I also made a whole bunch of new friends in 2013. There were three that I got to know really well. Their names are David, Yahir, Casen. They are three people I could trust my life to. We talked to each other as much as possible. I was someone who used to hate recess until I met them. No one played with me, but them. I used to walk around the playground doing nothing! Even better, we all love pokemon. In 2013 I got a puppy. It was brown with white parts on its body. She was a beagle and hound mix named Rosie. There were a couple of bad things though. First of all,no matter how hard I tried I could not train her! Second, she chewed everything. Literally everything. (At least she did not chew a brick off my house like my first dog.) After a while I got impatient with her, so I didn’t try to train her. That meant my mom fed and took care of her. Rosie still chewed things and was naughty, so we sadly had to give her away. Even though 2013 was a fantastic year, I am hoping 2014 will be even better. One thing that would be awesome is making an A on every test. Think about it. You would be star student… or better! In 2013 I made 3 awesome new friends, but I want to make more in 2014. Maybe 10 or more is my goal. If there was one thing I would like to stop doing this year , it would be to stop eating lots of junk food. It would help me in two ways.Of course I would be healthier, but it would also help my diabetes. (Type 1) My dad and I started playing pool together recently. He beats me every time. So in 2014, I would like to get better at pool. This year I would like to read 4 new books. I would like to read Percy Jackson books. I suggest them if you are into Greek mythology.
Thanks for reading, and happy new year!
